COMPLETION

HERE IS THE COMPLETE MAGAZINE
IN ORDER FROM COVER PAGE TO TWO PAGE SPREAD

Helping others

So today in class I was procrastinating on working on my project so I decided to just help others out. So a classmate named Daniel called me over since he needed some help on photoshop and since I know the program pretty well I decided to help him out.

His issue was he didn't know how to take out some white from a photo so I pretty much just edited it out by deleting the portions pixel by pixel to make sure it was the exact picture he wanted in order to make it a proper png file.

Edit of shoot

Today I finally got around to find some time to edit the photos from the shoot, as I went through all of them I feel the one shown below is one of the bests taken but I am a bit doubtful about the framing for the picture.

But so I then chose the picture and began to mess around with the curves, hue, saturation and the levels of the blacks and whites on Adobe Photoshop. I feel like I might revise this picture a bit more but as for now this is the latest outcome.

This is also pretty much gonna be the same for all other pictures I use for the magazine

Group Meeting

So today was the first time I have ever done a group meeting since the last time we did it in class I wasnt there. I found this meeting to be very helpfu in terms of crtics on what I should improve within my project but also at looking at what other students are doing and helping them out too.

For instance I helped out one of my fellow group members, Mariana, a whole lot while discussing her magazine. As we felt the colors could have been different in order to make the Generation Z part of her cover page stand out more rather than how it was originally.

Original:

Another one of my fellow group memebers, Rodrigo, and I then put it into photoshop and from there messed with color setting in order to change it from yellow to red.

I hope she takes our advice and uses it for her project, below is the final product from photoshop.

additional

Luckily my friend, Corey gave me some more pictures that he took for his most recent shoot which he is planning on uploading to grailed.com to sell so here are the amazing pictures he takes of the clothes he sells, it is literally insane as to how good they are as he shoots all of this in his room and on top of it uses a dslr to increase the quality of the pictures he takes.

Shoot

Sooo I know I am very behind on work for this project so these coming weeks I am gonna be having to do a-lot of work and a lot of blog too post.

Today after school I finally had the ability to go shoot with my friend Corey due to the fact that he was traveling during spring break and the week before the break but now that he is back we met up at Markham Park to shoot.

Since the concept is men's streetwear I decided it would be best for him to literally pose on the street while wearing clothes that give a sense to the style used within streetwear as you can even see in the picture he is wearing merchandise used commonly by those whom are into the fashion of streetwear.

Here are a few pictures from our shoot...

first shoot

So today I went over to my friend Corey's house to kind of see how he truly works as he told me his really into men's streetwear and even sells it through grailed.com and has made a lot of money through it. Here are some pictures of his room to give an insight as to how he does all his selling on a day to day basis.

finally found someone

So after having been worried for so long as to who to do the main article for the magazine on I finally found a friend that I would have never thought that is actually really into men's streetwear and has made so much money from selling through this website that I had mentioned before named grailed.com

His name is Corey Geffner and after talking today after I saw him at Publix he was telling me soooo much about the business and what his day is usually like. So I pretty much somewhat interviewed him at Publix....lol

I would put a picture of him but you will eventually see him soon...

grailed.com

So after talking with some friends at lunch today at school they introduced me to this really cool website that has a lot to do with men's fashion. The name of it is grailed.com and pretty much its just a website platform where anyone can buy and sell clothes they may not want and want to make some money from it.

After conducting some research I tried reaching out to one of their top sellers but I have yet to get a response but hopefully I find someone cause I am stressing over the 2--page spread portion of the magazine cause I want to make it real and not have to fake it.

Here are some pictures of the website.

color choice/ format

So currently I am not home so I cant really show you how the format for the cover, 2-page spread, and table of contents is but pretty much I decided on a black and white theme and the pictures I take will be in black and white. So the text will also be a mix of white and black as well. Also for the format I am matching the 2-page spread and the table of contents so everything lines up throughout the whole magazine if it was hypothetically completely made.

As for the cover I am gonna go with the template I made on paper and just follow to a certain extent.

Here is a picture of the template I already made previously

FONT CHOICE

Well today I decided on the fonts that I want to use and keep consistent throughout my magazine. Simply because of how clean they look and I just truly enjoy the aesthetics that the font makes in terms of how I picture it would look on a magazine.
I downloaded these fonts through dafont.com of course...

Also I like that they are free and I am allowed to use them without any potential consequences.

dafont.com OP

OMG! dafont.com
So after conducting some research on fonts, as I need to decide the basic fonts that I want to stay consistent throughout the magazine, I stumbled upon this great website that allows the user to literally search for millions of fonts in which you can even put in the word or phrase and it will put it in the font that you selected. Not only does it do that but it shows you how to download the font to your computer so you can then use it and pretty much just how to set it up. But best of all is that most of the fonts are free and usually copy-right free as well.

But of course its stated on the website FAQ that in some cases you might have to ask the creator for the approval as for instance shown below in the picture of the font named Jelly Donuts which says "Man-On" its stated in the description that if you wanted to use the font for commercial use you would have to pay 10$ for the license to be able to use it.

Formattingg

Well for today blog post I have been working on planning out the main cover and sort of have been thinking of different ways of designing that together. But I am honestly feeling like as if I am stuck in quick sand and need some help as the Xs that are shown very faintly on the page is the area of space which is blank that I feel should have some sort of element incorporated into it but I don't know what though and have been having trouble thinking of ideas of what to do with it.

I also have another idea in which simply the picture takes up the whole front cover and within it text and certain design elements are put over it and photoshopped with some of the text being behind the image also rather then having this squared picture with white on the sides something of the sort that would seem like a national geographic magazine turned into a mens streetwear magazine. Below is an example of the idea that I envision through the using the full picture.

RIP GRADE... almost. Now onto to colors.

Damn did I almost really mess up bad but I'm so glad someone in the class group-chat reminded everyone to make sure to have their 3 blogs done as I literally forgot to publish them and almost put the wrong time as my schedule button was in the wrong time-zone lol oh well....

As for my next advancement into my magazine I have been trying to decide on a color scheme to go by :///... as I have began to realize with all my prior research most magazines have bright poppy colors to kind of separate theme-selves from the rest of the magazines when put side to side on the shelf with their "competitors". Therefore I think I am gonna go with either a red and dark greyish almost black or some sort of variation of that as I have been browsing through various different covers online and am kind of trying to see the general norm which most magazines are going.

Because of this I have realized that most are going for a more darkish feel especially within their cover page therefore I think I am gonna sort of have my cover be more like this one just instead of the yellow I would have it red.

Name?

Well so today I was randomly in math class just thinking about the project and then all of a sudden I began to start thinking of the NYLON magazine again and how its soo cool beacuse of the combination of the two city names and i dont know why but I have always had this think with having nicknames or acronymns for everything just for the fun of it like I always like to mess around with my initals RARZ and just start blurting it out when I home to bother everyone... lol!

Alright well so I was in class and then I began to right down the name of important fashion cities

MIAMI, LONDON, LA, NY

I actually wrote it down in my agenda and so then I began to look for a word within all of the those letters and as of now thanks to the inspiration from NYLON it looks like the name for the magazine is gonna be MAN-ON

I also kind of based it on cities I liked the most within a certain order as MIA is where I have been my whole life LA was second and is where I love to go NY was third beacuse while I would prefer LA or NY I wouldnt mind it and LON was last beacuse its for me just not up there LOL... although they do have the premiere league which i love <3

More inspiration

Well as I continue to do more research I have began to start to realize basic trends in terms of how most of the models seem to be pictured within the magazine and sort of different ways to have the two page spread. But most importantly I have done more research this time on Nylon Magazine.

Of course I did research into the Nylon Guys version as Nylon is a multi-platform media company and magazine company that focus on pop culture and fashion with more coverages that include art, music, design, etc... but most importantly and what I find most interesting is the name Nylon as its derived from the combination of New York and London into one word which I truly just love how original the idea is and this gives me inspiration in terms of potential names for my magazine as I have been having so much trouble in finding a name out and just having an overall idea/inspiration as to how I want the magazine to look.

More in depth

Well as I stated last time Men's Fashion it is.

As I clearly didn't submit my 2 other blogs last week because I simply was irresponsible while at a soccer tournament at Dallas, I have conducted some more research and have found more magazines like that of Hypebeast this one is named Popeye.

Popeye is a monthly fashion and men's magazine based in Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the oldest magazines featuring articles about men's fashionThe magazine is considered to be the Japanese version of Nylon magazine. (Which I will be talking about in my next blog.) Its Currently the top ranking fashion for men, Popeye calls itself “the magazine for city boys”. It’s a magazine for men in their 20’s who like to be casual and stylish, and it is designed with an urban feel that fits its slogan. The magazine covers a wide range of topics including fashion, cars, sports, travel, and music. It’s equivalent to the“streetwear” and “hype beast” fashion now popular in the US.

DEPTH

Going more in depth into street wear I found more articles on recent releases and some magazines for mens street wear that I may try to mock certain portions through photoshop but really I have no idea as how I am going to do this.

Here are some pictures of some possible magazines I might try to mock.

A start?

Currently I have a general idea as to the sector I want to approach which is fashion/street wear in terms of current news on latest releases. This idea mainly comes from a website named Hypebeast which is currently the biggest company which tends to have multiple articles on rumors, releases, and even collaboration.

Some history about this company is that its pretty much a  digital media and e-commerce company based in Hong Kong. Founded as a sneaker culture blog by Kevin Ma in 2005, Hypebeast offers sneaker and fashion-focused digital media oriented towards youth and young adults.

Its media properties include men’s fashion and lifestyle website Hypebeast, which has regional offshoots in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean, female streetwear website Hypebae, children's streetwear website Hypekids, Chinese-language women’s high fashion website Popbee, and quarterly print publication HYPEBEAST Magazine. Other operating arms include the HBX e-commerce platform and global creative studio Hypemaker.

But in terms for the creation of this magazine I intend to focus more on the men's fashion side of it?...😑

Beginning

So I know I want to do something with Men Fashion but I don't know many people that are into it.
But for now I am gonna have to conduct some research as to typical mens fashion and from there kind of narrow it down to my interest. So therefore I have been reading some articles on typical norms for men fashion magazines.
